Literature Writing Papers - Female Or Male?When the 19th century began, British literature was concentrated in one particular genre: romantic literature. Romantic literature included works that dealt with romance and love, many of which were written by female writers who, in some cases, won a very small following of women who loved their books.One of the best examples of this type of romantic literature is Charlotte Bronte's 'Wuthering Heights.' After writing three novels about a young girl who fell in love with a man who turns out to be her stepfather, Bronte was denounced by other women for being too closely connected to the working class. The controversy over the moral content of her novels caused Bronte to change her focus, and as she turned to writing novels about her own relationships, she wrote more novels about love and friendship, focusing on the more familiar areas of women's relationships.J.D. Davenport also became known for focusing on certain topics, such as 'Mr. Wrong'M r. Ripley,' and later, 'Pride and Prejudice.' Davenport, like Bronte, was criticized because of the nature of her novels; as a result, she became interested in other themes, and she even wrote a book, 'Women's Work in Victorian England,' that explored the social status of women.In addition to these types of topics, different women often wrote about matters of religion, like Elizabeth Gaskell's 'Jane Eyre,' 'Persuasion,' and 'The Dressmaker's Daughter.' There are also several books that deal with political and international topics, especially books by women writers like Florence Nightingale, Margaret Mitchell, and Annie Proulx.The same cannot be said of men's work. Though there were several American writers who focused on romantic themes, the focus was more on 'hard-boiled' stories, including Cormac McCarthy's 'The Road'No Country for Old Men.' Most of the best American male writers, however, specialized in works that dealt with problems, like Tom Wolfe's 'Bonfire of the Vanities,' C harles Bukowski's 'Lust for Life,' and Hunter S. Thompson's 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.'This can be seen in the literature of the modern times as well. There have been few men who have written about the vast array of problems faced by men in the twenty-first century.There is another difference between women's and male authors. A woman will have an issue or theme to deal with in her novel, and the focus is her words and emotions. A man, on the other hand, will have a single, personal, general theme that he relates to his readers in a statement, quote, poem, or a poem that is clearly related to his life.One classic piece of writing is the 'The Test.' Written by Charles Baudelaire, this short story is about a boy and a girl, trying to find the world of fairies, complete with fairies, from a doorway. Both are wearing white, as they pass through a doorway and enter a town that has fairies all around.
